Explore Search Pane

The Explore section of the main Researcher window contains of a completely graphic interface that provides shortcuts to popular searches (Most Popular, What's New, Award Winners, etc.) and can be customized for quick access to library resources.
 
 

  • Explore: Alexandria's Explore interface can be accessed by clicking the compass icon in the Explore section of the main Researcher window. Once selected, the Explore section will expand to take over the initial Researcher window and include fifteen icons instead of five. The functionality of the Alexandria Explore search interface is described below.

  • Most Popular: The Most Popular search is a simple shortcut that allows patrons to search for the top twenty-five most circulated items in your library; results are returned like other results lists.

  • What's New: The What's New search is a simple shortcut that allows patrons to search for the newest twenty-five items added to the collection. Results are returned like other results lists.

  • Award Winners: The Award Winners search is a simple shortcut that allows patrons to search for award-winning books in your collection; results are returned like other results lists.

  • eBooks: The eBooks search is a simple shortcut that allows patrons to search for electronic books in your collection; results are returned like other results lists.

To search using the Alexandria Explore graphic interface, click on one of the picture-buttons. Some of these pictures will take you to new panes, others will perform an Alexandria search, and some will open a website using your system's default web browser.

 

For instance, if your school has a subscription to the EBSCO database, one of the Explore buttons may be programmed to launch an internet browser pointed at the EBSCO's website.
